ICE official: Agency will arrest at California worksites
2017-10-08
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ‐ In another sign of escalating tensions between President Donald Trump's administration and California, the nation's top immigration official said Friday his agency will have "no choice" but to arrest immigrants who are in the country illegally in California's neighborhoods and worksites.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement will also likely have to place immigrants arrested in California in out-of-state detention centers, ICE Acting Director Thomas Homan said in a statement.

Homan's comments came a day after Gov. Jerry Brown signed bill SB54, or sanctuary state legislation.
This could lead to eventual conflict and violence between state and federal law enforcement personnel. Worst case, state ordered military confrontation.

#12  I am most impressed that Anonymous can spell Chrysanthemum myself....

I'm stocking up for the popcorn on how this is going to play out with ICE conducting raids and LEO's being told to stop them...

This will be fun to watch

#10  Decades ago, my wife was an accountant for a chrysanthemum grower in Portola Valley. When the word was passed that ICE was coming, all the workers would go out and hide in the chrysanthemums in the large greenhouses. ICE would round up a token group of them and depart.

#9  ..just like local LEO won't support Antifa over free speech.

Depends on the municipality. In places like Berkeley, San Jose, San Francisco and Los Angeles you might be right. But in other places the police still do their jobs.

#8  Get 'em all outta here!

BTW, I'm thinking there is all kinds of discretionary federal spending that no longer needs to be done in California. I hate to say it but if Moonbeam won't cooperate with the federal government, the federal government should no longer cooperate with Moonbeam. No more research grants, no more block grants, highway funding pared to the bone, etc., etc. Then maybe some federal investigations into campaign funding for California politicians. That'd be like turning on the light in a dark room full of cockroaches.

It's not like Trump is ever gonna get California's electoral votes anyway.

#6  State and local LEOs aren't going to take the Dems side against the Feds over illegal aliens.

#5  Last time a state played that card, Eisenhower...

President Trump is old enough to remember that precedent.

#4  Worst case, state ordered military confrontation.

Last time a state played that card, Eisenhower federalized the state National Guard. Chain of command switched overnight.

#3  Good to know there are people in California that are true Americans. Sorry for what an illegal did to Californian Kathryn Steinle.

#2  As a Los Angeles resident I agree with the federal government overriding Governor Brown.
If California is not going to cooperate with the federal government to protect all Americans, then the federal government will have to act on its own to protect us Californians who do not agree with our governor as well as protect the rest of our country from the states overrun with corruption.
