Rangers’ policing powers in Karachi extended for 90 days
2017-07-13
[DAWN] The Sindh government has approved an extension in the special powers of the Pakistain Rangers in Bloody Karachi
...formerly the capital of Pakistain, now merely its most important port and financial center. It is among the largest cities in the world, with a population of 18 million, most of whom hate each other and many of whom are armed and dangerous...
for 90 days.

According to a blurb issued from the office of Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, the extension in the Ranger's powers will take effect from July 15.

The paramilitary force will remain deployed in the city until October 12.

The Rangers' action against criminal elements in Pakistain’s commercial hub was initiated back in September 2013 when the federal cabinet empowered the paramilitary force to lead a targeted advance against criminals already identified by federal military and civilian agencies for their alleged involvement in assassination'>assassinations, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism in Karachi.
