Grassley Asks FBI How Translator Married Terrorist Without Bureau's Knowledge
2017-05-14
[Daily Caller] WASHINGTON -- Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley requested from the Justice Department and FBI Friday information about how an FBI translator was allegedly able to go to Syria and marry the ISIS operative who she was supposed to be investigating.

In a letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein and Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, Grassley asked for answers pertaining to how the romantic relationship came about and the FBI was unaware of it the entire time.

Grassley also requested any prior or newly implemented policies that dealt with situations like this -- specifically about the vetting process for hiring contractors -- as well as if there were any reviews or disciplinary actions taken because the incident.

"This rogue employee had access to highly sensitive national security information. I’m troubled that a relationship between an FBI employee and a prominent ISIS recruiter went unnoticed, and more troubled that there wasn’t a safeguard to successfully catch this incident," Grassley said in his letter to Rosenstein and McCabe.

#10  ...talking about Bush era.

It was a horrific mistake that the war was misnamed as a war against "terror". It shouldn't have been. It should have indeed been a war against Islam.

The lessor states could have been given a strongly worded letter. The black rock in Saudi Arabia should have been obliterated, and the cities of Mecca and Medina turned to glass. Iran and Iraq's known military bases should have also been destroyed.

Bush was wrong. And I say that knowing that I voted for him twice.

#7  By definition, a Muslim translator candidate who refuses to work with Jews is declaring that he brings his religious bias to the job. What more do you need to know about the shading of his translations. Freedom of religion is grounded in tolerance of religions that are themselves tolerant!

#6  The DOJ and the FBI have been held hostage for the past 8 years working for social justice and making certain PC was enforced. Considerable effort was also spent by the FBI to purge all training materials of anything that CAIR and the MB didn't agree with.

#5  If you can quote generals, I have to yield in terms of the Defense Department, g(r)omgoru, but that isn't the FBI or the CIA -- which also have their share of prejudiced idiots, no doubt. No, surrending to the Muslims is not any better, especially immediately following 9/11.

And now that you mention it, I recall being shocked when some of our popular generals spouted off about Israel being the key problem preventing peace in the Middle East.

#4  Even if I forbore to mention statements by various american generals on the subject, fully accepting your thesis, TW - is it any better?

#3  It was that the Muslim translators refused to work with them or if they were hired, as I recall, g(r)omgoru.

#2  As I understand it, when WoT started, USA intelligence services decided not to employ Arabic speaking Jews - cause you can't trust them Zionists.

#1  Don't suppose Jim Comey would care to discuss or shed any light on any of this, since he's..... no longer with the Bureau.
