Elon Musk's SpaceX rocket lands back at Cape Canaveral after delivering supplies to the International Space Station
2017-02-21
  • [Daily Mail, Where America Gets Its News] New video shows the moment Falcon 9 rocket landed at Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida

  • The rocket blasted off at 9:38am Sunday and touched down at the space center that day

  • It returned after making its payload to the astronauts on the International Space Station

  • SpaceX CEO Elon Musk captioned the video of the return on Instagram: 'Baby came back'

  • The launch pad, which is being leased by SpaceX for six years, was used to send Neil Armstrong to the moon

  • SpaceX wanted to send the rocket - packed with supplies for the space station - Saturday but there was a fault

  • The reusable rocket has only been landed on solid ground by SpaceX three times before

  • This was the first launch for the company from Florida since September, when another Falcon 9 exploded

#4  Next SpaceX/Musk launch is Echostar 23 which will be expendable (no landing) as the sat is quite large.

After Echostar 23 comes SES-10 which will be riding on the first reused first stage! Hopefully this flight will be mid-March but delivery times and Musk have quite often been wishful thinking.

#3  H5 is the big Japanese space freighter.
Next gen will be a bigger Cygnus, Dragon2 (both cargo and human versions), DreamChaser(cargo version), Boeing Starliner and the H5 and Dragons will continue for awhile.

#2  Only the first stage has landed. The payload Dragon is on it's way to ISS.
There is this whole "go slow and carefully approach according to script" dance that is done to be grappled (not docked) with ISS. Docking is too much of a shock for many experiments on the ISS and is only used for manned and Russian craft. H5, Cygnus and Dragon are pulled in by remote arm. EU craft might dock but no more EU craft are planned.

#1  The second stage maneuvers after seco caused UFO sightings all over IRAN! Some of the UFO vids even capture the Dragon separating from the second stage.
