| 300 members of Hasm militant group referred to military prosecution | |

Egypt's High State Security prosecution referred on Wednesday 304 people to military prosecution for membership in the Islamist Death Eater group Hasm,
According to a statement by the High State Security prosecution, 144 people have been tossed in the clink Youse'll never take me alive coppers!... [BANG!]... Ow!... I quit! and are currently detained pending investigations, including leading Moslem Brüderbund member Mohammed Ali Beshr. The prosecution said the case is "one of the largest" to be referred recently to military prosecution. The prosecution added that the defendants are responsible for a number of attacks against security forces and public figures, including the attempt to assassinate former Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa and the liquidation of high ranking army officer Adel Ragaei. The prosecution also said that Hasm, along with Death Eater group Lewaa al-Thawra, was formed by leading figures in the banned Moslem Brüderbund in an "attempt to revive its Death Eater wing." The prosecution also said that the security forces raided 41 Death Eater hideouts. | |
