ISIS immolates 9 for desertion

(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Iraqi media outlets announced on Tuesday, that the Islamic State executed nine of its members by burning for fleeing the battles in central Mosul.

Al Sumaria News stated, “ISIS terrorist gangs executed nine of its members for fleeing the battle against the security forces in Mosul, by throwing them in trenches containing a burning oil, after tying their hands and legs.”

“ISIS used the burning oil trenches to impede the visibility of the Iraqi Air Force and international coalition air force,” Al Sumaria added.

ISIS is using the most heinous methods to murder its rebellious members to discourage them from fleeing battles against the Iraqi government’s security forces.

ISIS lights up sulphur plant
Pining for that odor in their afterlife in Hell
(IraqiNews.com) Nineveh – Hundreds of persons in Mosul suffered from suffocation due to emission of poisonous gasses, after the members of the Islamic State set fire to the Mishraq Sulphur plant on Thursday last week, before fleeing the city of Mosul, media outlets reported.

The Telegraph stated that the emitted gasses formed a toxic cloud, which includes deadly Sulphur dioxide and hydrogen sulphide, combined with residue from burning oil wells, which is a fatal cocktail for those caught in the open or without gas masks.

Deputy Manager of Nineveh Health Directorate, Layth Hababa, said in a press statement, “The health center in Qayyarah area received more than 100 persons suffering from suffocation due to the emission of poisonous gasses,” pointing out that, “The casualties include pregnant women and children, but no deaths were recorded.”

Last week, security forces managed to recapture Mishraq Sulphur plant, but the ISIS members set it ablaze before withdrawing from the area, as the latest step to defend the Caliphate headquarters, Mosul city.

ISIS using civilians as human shields
Slow news day at Turtle Bay
[ARA News ] Geneva – As the US-backed Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army troops close in on Mosul, the Islamic State (ISIS) radical group has committed grave violations against civilians. The group has recently executed dozens of people and used many civilians as human shields, the United Nations reported on Tuesday.

“We continue to receive information that reinforces the belief that ISIS militants are deliberately using civilians as human shields – forcing them to move to sites where ISIS fighters are based, or preventing them from leaving other places for strategic reasons,” said Rupert Colville, Spokesperson for the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) at a news briefing at the United Nations Office in Geneva.

ISIS has reportedly killed 15 civilians on Monday in Safina, a village around 45 kilometres south of Mosul, and threw their bodies in the river, apparently in an attempt to spread terror among the other residents.

“On the afternoon of 19 October, in the same village, ISIS reportedly tied six civilians to a vehicle by their hands and dragged them around the village, apparently simply because they were related to a particular tribal leader fighting against ISIS alongside Iraqi Government forces,” Coalville said, adding that the six men were also allegedly beaten with sticks and gun butts. “It is not clear what happened to them subsequently,” he said.

On 20 October, Iraqi security forces reportedly discovered the bodies of 70 civilians inside houses in Tuloul Naser Village which is located in the same sub-district, some 35 kilometres south of Mosul City. “The bodies had bullet wounds, but it is not known for sure at this point who was responsible for the killings,” according to the UN Human Rights Office.

On 22 October, ISIS militants shot dead three women and three young girls, and wounded a further four children from Rufeila, a village in the al-Qayyarah sub-district south of Mosul.

“The victims were allegedly shot because they were trailing some 100 meters behind a group of other people from the same village who were being forced by ISIL to relocate to another sub-district,” the OHCHR spokesperson said. “The victims were lagging behind because one of the children had a disability,” and, “she was apparently amongst those shot and killed.”

On Sunday, ISIS reportedly killed 50 former Iraqi Police Officers that they had been holding outside of Mosul City.

“We very much fear that these will not be the last such reports we receive of such barbaric acts by ISIS,” Coalville said. “We repeat our call on Government forces and their allies to ensure their fighters do not take revenge on any of the civilians who escape from areas under ISIS control, and treat all suspected ISIS fighters they capture in accordance with international humanitarian law.”

This comes as the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi Army troops, backed by the US-led coalition, continued military operations against ISIS in Mosul, in northwestern Iraq, for the second week.
