| Iraqi forces continue advance towards al Sharqat |

| (IraqiNews.com) Salahuddin – Media officials with the Ministry of Defense announced on Friday, that the Iraqi joint forces had managed to liberate the area of Makhoul from ISIS, indicating that the forces are advancing into the district of al-Sharqat north of Tikrit. The officials said in a press statement followed by IraqiNews.com, “The Anti-Terrorism Directorate and the army’s Armored Ninth Division had gained control over the [government] office of Makhoul vicinity north of Baiji (40 km north of Tikrit),” pointing out that, “The [forces] raised the Iraqi flag over the office.” The officials added, “The military troops are advancing towards the intersection of the district of al-Sharqat and opening save havens for many families to escape towards the security [forces].” |
