| Bombing attack in eastern Afghanistan kills 12, injures dozens |

| [Iran Press TV] At least 12 people have bit the dust and dozens sustained injuries in a bombing attack in eastern Afghanistan, officials say. The attack took place when a bomber stormed a bus which was carrying Afghan army recruits in the quiet provincial capital of Jalalabad in Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. Province on Monday. "In the attack, 12 army recruits were killed and 38 others were maimed," said Attaullah Khogyani, the front man for Nangarhar province. Afghanistan's Defense Ministry front man General Dawlat Waziri confirmed the incident and the corpse count, saying the attacker struck the bus while riding a motorized tricycle. "The recruits were being transferred from Jalalabad to Kabul ...the capital of Afghanistan. The head of a regional hospital in the province, however, put the corpse count at 13. Taliban front man Zabiullah Mujahid grabbed credit for the attack on his Twitter page. |
