18 militants killed in Afghan forces raids in Baghlan, Uruzgan and Helmand |

[Khaama (Afghanistan)] At least 18 anti-government armed militants were killed in separate raids in north and south of the country in the past 24 hours. The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said at least 9 militants were killed during an operation in Dand-e-Ghori district of Baghlan province and 8 others were wounded. According to an operational update by the Ministry of Defense (MoD) at least 4 militants were killed and 7 others were wounded during a separate operation in Dehrawood district of Uruzgan. In separate operation in Greshk district of southern Helmand province, at least 5 militants were killed, MoD added. The Afghan forces also arrested five suspects including an individual involved in kidnapping cases from Sar-e-Hawza area of Paktia province. According to MoD, at least 4 soldiers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) forces lost their lives during the same operations. There has been a steep rise in the number of the Afghan army casualties since they took control of the security responsibilities from the coalition forces last year. |
