Top military officer contradicts Obama, says ISIS not 'contained'
2015-12-02
[FOXNEWS] America's top-ranking military officer found himself at odds Tuesday with the nation's commander-in-chief over his claim that the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
was "contained" -- an assertion President B.O. had made before the Gay Paree terror attacks.

Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, gave a dim assessment when asked during a House Armed Services Committee hearing whether that's the case.

"We have not contained ISIL currently," Dunford told Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Va.

The answer runs counter to the claim made by Obama last month in an ABC News interview when asked about the status of the anti-ISIS campaign.

"I don't think they're gaining strength. What is true is that from the start our goal has been first to contain, and we have contained them. They have not gained ground in Iraq. And in Syria, they'll come in, they'll leave, but you don't see this systematic march by ISIL across the terrain," Obama said.

The remarks were made a day before the Nov. 13 Gay Paree terror attacks, which were carried out by ISIS holy warriors, and later had to be clarified by the White House as the administration faced bipartisan criticism. White House Deputy Press Secretary Ben Rhodes said Obama was referring specifically to the group's geographic expansion in Iraq and Syria.

#4  The man's got a problem. Congress is the authenticating authority to the appointment of the chairman. He can fire, he can't keep anyone in the chair unless the Senate OKs. At this point it would become interesting if the chiefs don't fall in line. If he sacks the lot it may well precipitate an issue his agents can't hide in an election year. Given the regard the public has in its uniform military vs the rest of the government and MSM, it's not a fight I'd take on. Even if he sacks them, they remain on the payroll. Only Courts Martial can 'fire' them, and then, by the law, that can only be done by other uniformed personnel. With an election just a year away, those who execute the dirty work will themselves face the same venue shortly thereafter. May we live in interesting times.

Much like the Benghazi video assertion he, et al. made immediately prior to the election.
