| Yemeni resistance repels Houthi attack near Bab Al Mandab |

| Published Thursday, November 05, 2015 Yemen’s national resistance fighters repulsed two offensives by the Iranian-backed Houthis and their allies to retake positions overlooking the strategic Bab Al Mandab waterway, a Yemeni news network reported on Thursday. Heavy fighting erupted when the coup insurgent attacked Dhubab close to Bab Al Mandab on Wednesday, Masdar Online said, quoting military sources. “The Houthis and their allies launched two offensives targeting positions they had lost to the resistance…they tried to seize a strategic position overlooking Bab Al Mandab but they were repulsed by the resistance,” the report said. It quoted other sources as saying five Houthis were killed and 13 injured in an attack by the resistance on rebel positions in Makbana area in Taiz. It added that the insurgents faced fierce resistance as they tried to control a road to cut off weapons supply to the resistance in that area. “Clashes were still raging late Wednesday as the resistance fighters were trying to halt the rebels’ advance in mountainous areas…at the same time, the Houthis and their allies were seen on Wednesday massing troops and weapons to seize roads in that area to cut off weapons supply to the resistance in Taiz city,” the report said. |
