| KSA-led coalition airdrops arms for Yemen loyalists |

| ADEN: The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has dropped arms and ammunition to pro-government fighters in Taiz, the central city besieged by Shiite Houthi rebels, military sources said Wednesday. Coalition planes “parachuted three shipments of arms and ammunition to help our fighters in southwest Taiz,” a source told AFP, adding they included RPG launchers and a variety of weapons. The airdrop took place before dawn on Tuesday and Wednesday, he said. Clashes raged Wednesday in Taiz between the rebels and fighters allied with President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi, another military source said. Meanwhile, security officials and witnesses in Aden say militants have bombed a local college, following previous threats against the school. The officials said militants on a motorcycle tossed a bomb Wednesday onto the sprawling campus of the University of Aden. It shattered windows at the College of Commerce and Economics. Terrified students ran for safety. There was no immediate word on casualties or a claim of responsibility. A university official said militants had vowed to attack the school if it did not gender-segregate classes. Officials and witnesses spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to brief reporters or fear reprisals. |
