Maureen O'Hara Passes |

The actor Maureen O'Hara, famed for her flaming red hair and her role in The Quiet Man, has died aged 95. Her family confirmed in a statement that the Irish-American film actress and singer passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday. "It is with a sad heart that we share the news that Maureen O'Hara passed away today in her sleep of natural causes," a statement from the Fitzsimons family read. I know a lot of us here in Rantburg enjoyed her work. RIP. |

#5 Just watched her last night in the 1939 Hunchback of Notre Dame and looked her up on Wikipedia and was amazed she was alive at 95. Sadly not long after she passed it seems. |

#2 Quiet Man, a superb film, and John Ford, John Wayne cavalry trilogy, in which she starred in the last Rio Grande, a self image of America that was proud, confident and believed in our nation and its legends. O'Hara was never appreciated for the breadth of her early work, but established an Irish stock character that was well developed and pleasing. RIP |
