| 16th division troops arrive in Nineveh to participate in Mosul liberation |

| On Saturday, a local source in Nineveh province announced the arrival of troops from the 16th division to the the province to participate in the ongoing preparations to liberate the city of Mosul from the control of ISIS.” The source said in an interview for IraqiNews.com, “troops belonging to the 16th dvision under the command of the ground force, which settles in the province of Diyala, arrived this evening in the city of Kirkuk and then in Makhmour district, where there is the headquarters of Nineveh operations.” The source, who asked anonymity, added: “The Ministry of Defense has coordinated with the Ministry of Peshmerga in moving these forces,” noting that “these forces will be added to other military forces to work under the supervision of the joint operations room between Baghdad and Erbil and in coordination with the Nineveh operations.” |

| #1 Mosul fell to ISIS in June 2014. Since then a 'liberation' has been postponed many times. In April 2015, Iraqi sources said it would be liberated before the summer. Back in June 2015, one Iraqi Gen said the liberation was underway but that was misinfo. The Kurds already control about 50-75% of the perimeter around the city. Of course, Ramadi fell to ISIS in May 2015 and it is closer to Baghdad. |
