| [ALMANAR.LB] At least 14 people were killed and another 39 injured by multiple bombings in Nigeria's volatile city of Maiduguri, the epicenter of a six-year-long Boko Haram ... not to be confused with Procol Harum, Harum Scarum, possibly to be confused with Helter Skelter. The Nigerian version of al-Qaeda and the Taliban rolled together and flavored with a smigeon of distinctly Subsaharan ignorance and brutality... insurgency, the army said Friday. Four jacket wallahs detonated bombs in the city's densely populated Sajeri area at about 7:30pm local time Thursday, army front man Col. Sani Usman said. "There were kabooms at Sajeri, not far from Maiduguri's Ajilari Railway Crossing," he said. "It has been confirmed that 14 people bit the dust, including the bombers, while 39 others were maimed," Usman said in a statement. He said three of the blasts had occurred in the same area, while a fourth went off outside a local mosque, killing a number of Moslem worshipers. Tunde Shotomi, head of security for government-run hospitals in the capital, told Anadolu Agency that the corpse count had risen to 15, going on to suggest that the number could rise further. The kabooms in Maiduguri occurred near the scene of a previous attack on Sept. 21 that killed 54 people. In an address to the nation delivered Thursday, President Mohammadu Buhari reiterated his vow to end the country's six-year Boko Haram insurgency. |
