![]() Col. Jesse Alvarez said troops were returning to headquarters from a reconnaissance and surveillance operation when they were engaged by armed men in a 15-minute gun battle. After the militants began to sense that they were outgunned and outnumbered, they hastily fled to nearby Cabangan mountain. The two dead armed men were thought to be members of guerilla-Front Committee 68 of the CPP-NPA North-Central Mindanao Regional Committee.
