[Khaama (Afghanistan)] Four drug smugglers have been locked awayYou have the right to remain silent... and another killed in police encounter in northeastern Takhar province. A statement released by the Ministry of Interior on Saturday states that counter-narcotics police conducted raids in Nangarhar The unfortunate Afghan province located adjacent to Mohmand, Kurram, and Khyber Agencies. The capital is Jalalabad. The province was the fief of Younus Khalis after the Soviets departed and one of his sons is the current provincial Taliban commander. Nangarhar is Haqqani country.. , Badakhshan, Parwan, Herat ...a venerable old Persian-speaking city in western Afghanistan, populated mostly by Tadjiks, which is why it's not as blood-soaked as areas controlled by Pashtuns... and Takhar province on suspected areas and vehicles. The statement adds that four suspects were detained during these raids from the jurisdiction of Nangarhar, Badakhshan, Parwan and Herat provinces with dozens of kilograms of heroin and hashish. The blurb further states that a clash occurred between police and drug smugglers during a raid in Taloqan, the capital city of Takhar province, leaving one smuggler killed and another maimed. |
