Dand-e-Ghori On Verge Of Turning Into Taliban Hub: Officials
2015-09-25
[Tolo News] Just days after the signing of a controversial deal between the government and Dand-e-Ghori residents in Baghlan province, officials from the local provincial council said that the area is already under the Taliban's control and that the turbans plan to turn the region into a stronghold.

They say the turbans plan to use Dand-e-Ghori to launch attacks on other parts of the province.

"The Taliban flag is waving there and the voice of their anthems which they play over loudspeakers can be heard. They invite the people towards them and they implement their law in Dand-e-Ghori," said Zarif Zarif, member of Baghlan Provincial Council.

"There are thousands of Taliban fighters in Postak bazaar which is their main hub and they perform anti-government activities from there. They are planning to conduct attacks against the Afghan forces from that area," he added.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
speaking at a presser on Wednesday, the Minister of Interior Noorulhaq Olomi said that security has been increased in Dand-e-Ghori after the deal was signed between the government and tribal elders in the area.

He said that according to the deal, the locals have promised to not let the Taliban or any hard boy group operate from the area and threaten security.

"As per the promises the locals made to the government delegation, security has been ensured there in Dand-e-Ghori. If there was allegiance to the Taliban flag then the people would not come and sign the deal with the government. They have vowed not to let the Taliban enter the area," Olomi said.

However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
a number of people say the Taliban has already ordered a number of schools in Dand-e-Ghori to cancel two subjects from their curriculum and add other subjects. They have also reportedly banned girls from going to school in the area.

Documents obtained by TOLOnews reveal that the agreement has been signed with the tribal elders. However,
today is that tomorrow you were thinking about yesterday...
the Baghlan Provincial Council claims the deal is an opportunity to reintroduce Taliban rule in the area.

Meanwhile,
...back at the Hubba Hubba Club, Big Shirley was still trying to snatch Nunzio bald-headed. She was already halfway there...
those who have signed the deal say the government should remain cautious and should launch clearance operations there.

"Some say that we have handed the area to the Taliban. It will be possible that the Taliban enter the area in future and the commitments are not fulfilled therefore the government should start clearance operations against Death Eaters in the area [Dand-e-Ghori]," said Abdul Samad Stanikzai, head of Baghlan High Peace Council.

According to the Dand-e-Ghori accord, the Afghan cops are not allowed to launch military operations in the area and they cannot arrest anyone without the permission of tribal elders. It is believed that this will give more courage to turbans to extend their activities in the area.
