| Abu Sayyaf suspected in Lamitan police station bombing |

| [PhilStar] An improvised bomb blew up Sunday night outside the gate of the police station in Lamitan City, Basilan. Provincial Police director Oscar Nantes said the explosion happened outside of the Lamitan City Police Station at Barangay Matibay. Nantes said there were no reported casualties, however residents and authorities said the blast was powerful enough to alarm the town. Police suspect that an Abu Sayyaf bomber slipped the bomb into a dark alley while the city was experiencing a blackout Sunday night. |
