15 people killed in Assad air strikes on Eastern Ghouta
2015-09-03
[EN.ZAMANALWSL.NET] Syrian air force extended its deadly raids on rebel-held city of Douma near Damascus, killing 10 civilians, 6 women and 4 children, medics and a monitoring group said on Wednesday.

The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) said 6 women and 4 children have been killed in regime air strikes on the stricken city of Douma, 10 km (7 miles) northeast the capital.

SNHR also reported killing of 5 people in the next-door suburbs of Saqba and Zebdin.

The air strikes on Eastern Ghouta district have coincided with a wider intensification of the four-year-old civil war estimated to have killed around a quarter of a million people and driven more than 11 million from their homes.

In the Western Ghouta, regime army snipers killed 2 people in Moadamiyet al-Sham town, according to SNHR.

The monitoring group that track war in Syria documented death of 1213 civilians, including 302 children and 289 women, in August, about 300 of them were from Douma.

SNHR said at least 16,744 enforced disappearance cases by regime have been documented in Damascus suburbs since the Syrian revolution erupted in March 2011.

Two weeks ago, government air strikes on east of Damascus had killed 247 people, including 50 children, and maimed 1,000 more people, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

The attacks on the rebel-held Eastern Ghouta region included August 16 air strikes that killed 117 people in a marketplace in Douma.
