| O'Malley challenges DNC over 'rigged' debate schedule |

| [THEHILL] Former Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley ...former Democratic governor of Maryland and aspiring presidential candidate, known locally as The One-Man Economic Wrecking Crew. O'Malley was elected to his second term driven by union support and near-Stalinesque vote margins in Baltimore city (82%) and Prince George's County (88%). He presided over more than 40 tax or fee increases, including a rain tax and a flush tax... thinks the Democratic Party's decision to limit the number of primary debates is tantamount to rigging the nomination process. "Four debates and only four debates -- we are told, not asked -- before voters in our earliest states make their decision," the presidential candidate said at the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Summer Meeting on Friday. "This sort of rigged process has never been attempted before," he added. "One debate in Iowa. That's it. One debate in New Hampshire. That's all we can afford." After O'Malley's speech wrapped up, observers noted palpable tension as he greeted DNC Chair, Rep. Debbie Wasserman-Schultz ...Congresswoman from Florida, the abrasive chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee. She has been a politician since 1992, and prior to that was in training as a political science major. Her primary accomplishment seems to be that she's Jewish... . |
