One Soldier, Three Kurdish Rebels Killed in Turkey Unrest
2015-08-17
[AnNahar] One Turkish soldier and three suspected members of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) were killed in eastern Turkey in new violence blamed on the Kurdish rebels, the state media said Sunday.

Fighting erupted in the early hours of Sunday near Kagizman town in eastern Kars province during a security sweep of the area, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

Two soldiers were wounded and one of them later succumbed to his injuries in hospital, Anatolia said, adding that the security forces had shot dead three PKK militants.
Ynet reports two previous incidents:
Three Turkish soldiers and a police officer were killed in separate incidents on Saturday, security sources said, as violence roils the country's mainly Kurdish southeast in recent weeks following the end of a two-year ceasefire.

The soldiers were killed and six more were maimed when gunnies from the autonomy-seeking Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) detonated a remote-controlled explosive that hit a military convoy traveling near the town of Bingol, the General Staff said on its website.

The police officer, who was part of a special operations unit, was killed after PKK rebels opened fire near the town of Semdinli, close to the Iraqi border, a security source said.
