| #16 This is from the comments on a similar story on Lucianne.com (I didn't check the cited laws mice elf): By an act of Congress, these monuments are considered U.S. Veterans monuments and defacing or tearing them down are felonies!!! Confederate soldiers, sailors, and Marines who fought in the Civil war were made U.S. Veterans by an act of Congress in in 1957, U.S. Public Law 85-425, Sec 410, which was approved 23 May, 1958. This made all Confederate Veterans equal to U.S. Veterans. Before that, under U.S. Public Law 810, Approved by the 17th Congress on 26 Feb 1929 the War Department was directed to erect headstones and recognize Confederate grave sites as U.S. War dead grave sites. Just for the record the last Confederate veteran died in 1958. So, in essence, when you remove a Confederate statue, monument or headstone, you are in fact, removing a statue, monument or head stone of a U.S. VETERAN.” (a felony)... So with that in mind... IF YOU DEFACE OR TEAR DOWN ANYTHING YOU SHOULD GO DIRECTLY TO JAIL AND DO NOT PASS GO and collect JACK and take all your Democratic cronies with you... |

| #4 All I see here is the dissolution of America. The history of this conflict is part of what made us. The children and g-children of the Civil War fought in WWI. Their children fought in WWII. Their g-children fought in v-nam and Korea. The purpose of this is simply to destroy and remake all that these people fought and died for into something that is not America. when is enough enough? Why the slow creep of anti-American thought and education growing? Simply put, good will tolerate evil, as it is in goods nature. Evil can not tolerate good, even at the most microscopic level because even an atom of good represents Hope and evil can not survive it. Americans are unique for two reasons from childhood they learn 2 things: there is always hope and you can make your future thru hard work. No other culture on the face of this earth or in history had these qualities. Evil can not stand it. |

| #1 From everything I ever heard or read about it, the Civil War was a horrible, desperate, bitter struggle in which hundreds of thousands of people were killed or maimed. Property was destroyed, careers were ruined, lives were thrown into total disarray. It went on for what? Four or five years? Why do these people want to fight it all over again? |
