| Pentagon Readying Plan to Lift Transgender Ban |

| [ABCNEWS.GO] Pentagon leaders are finalizing plans aimed at lifting the ban on transgender individuals in the military, with the goal of formally ending one of the last gender- or sexuality-based barriers to military service, senior U.S. officials told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named. Once they get that out of the way maybe they'll have time for that Islamic State thing. An announcement is expected this week, and the services would have six months to assess the impact of the change and work out the details, the officials said Monday. Military chiefs wanted time to methodically work through the legal, medical and administrative issues and develop training to ease any transition, and big shots believed six months would be sufficient. The officials said Defense Secretary Ash Carter has asked his personnel undersecretary, Brad Carson, to set up a working group of senior military and civilian leaders to take an objective look at the issue. One bigwig said that while the goal is to lift the ban, Carter wants the working group to look at the practical effects, including the costs, and determine whether it would affect readiness or create any insurmountable problems that could derail the plan. The group would also develop uniform guidelines. |

| #12 Im sorry, but this is simply mental illness defined by the medical establishment into "normal". Its not. Your body says XX or XY. You are therefore Female or Male. If you are one thing and think you are another then that is a mental aberration, not a normal situation. Extreme therapy may be required, as some want to mutilate their body hormonally and surgicallyt, but whatever the outcome, you cannot treat the final condition as "normal" - because it cannot be sustained without continuous treatment. Same as Cancer or HIV or Organ Transplants - if the treatments are required, you still have the disorder, and the need for continuous treatments means you are not eligible for service. This is imply using the military as a lab for social experiments. What happens to Jim who used to be Jenny, when they get stuck at the far end of a supply chain and dont get their testosterone? Same as a male who isnt making his own testosterone and requires hormone treatments - lose muscle mass, lose strenght, lose ability to perform the military duties. Therefore INELIGIBLE TO SERVE. Sorry folks there are limits, this is not Kindergarten. Doesn't anyone at the Pentagon have the guts to speak up? |

| #6 Open enrollment period for gender is the solution. Once a year, you can switch genders. Anything else might be confusing. |

| #1 The group would also develop uniform guidelines. Somebody is going to decide the two gender clothing system is discriminatory because it isolates and diminishes a soldier's self-esteem rather than supporting the uniqueness of spirit. |
