[Inquirer] Philippine soldiers gunned down three New People's Army militants while suffering no losses in a clash early Sunday in Davao City. Residents identified the fatalities as Randy Cornasa and Ruben Inlog. The other slain militant was unidentified. Battalion commander Rodney Intal said his men were fired upon while checking reports that gunmen had been conducting extortion activities in the area. He said his troops were pursuing other militants injured in the clash who escaped. Eastern Mindanao Command chief Aurelio Baladad said, "I encourage those wounded NPA members to come out for medical treatment as our security forces will not stop their pursuit." |
