| Four PTI workers killed in Abbottabad shooting |

| [DAWN] ABBOTTABAD: Four people, said to be workers of Pakistain Tehrik-e-Insaf ...a political party in Pakistan. PTI was founded by former Pakistani cricket captain and philanthropist Imran Khan. The party's slogan is Justice, Humanity and Self Esteem, each of which is open to widely divergent interpretations.... (PTI), were killed and another injured on Tuesday in a firing incident between workers of rival political parties. The incident took place at a hotel near Abbottabad ... A pleasant city located only 30 convenient miles from Islamabad. The city is noted for its nice weather and good schools. It is the site of Pakistain's military academy, which was within comfortable walking distance of the residence of the late Osama bin Laden.... 's Fawara Chowk, where five PTI workers were targeted, reported DawnNews. Two individuals was struck down in his prime, while the remaining three were shifted to Benazir Shaheed Hospital where two more gave up the ghost. The dear departed individuals are Dostan, Nazir, Kala, and Zakir ur Rehman, while Naveed was injured. The victims were allegedly targeted for their involvement in a clash at a Nangati polling station during local bodies election on May 30. Police have started the paperwork but haven't done much else at Abbottabad's Cantonment cop shoppe. Chaudhry Sajid, a member of the PML-N, has been nominated as the attacker in the FIR. A large number of coppers have been deployed in the area, where the situation was tense following festivities between rival political forces during and after local government polls. PTI workers organised a protest gathering alongside the dead bodies on Shahrah-e-Resham, causing traffic jams in the area, but dispersed after successful negotiations with the police. |
