| Brothers gunned down in southern Thailand |

| [The Nation] A schoolteacher and his older brother were gunned down on Saturday night in Narathiwat province. The pair were riding bicycles when two men on a motorcycle shot them. Officials suspect the attack was part of the regional insurgency. School director Isma-ae E-tae said the attackers may have been observing the brothers' evening routine of cycling before the incident. In related events, a former paramilitary ranger volunteer was shot and killed yesterday morning while traveling in his sedan in Bacho district in Narathiwat. He was seen stopping his car and talking to two men on a motorbike, one of whom pulled out a gun and shot at him nine times. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. |
