| Radio journalist shot dead in Baidoa | |

| BAIDOA, Somalia -- Unidentified gunmen have brutally gunned down a radio journalist in Bay regional capital of Baidoa of southwestern Somalia late on Wednesday night according to relatives, Garowe Online reports. Late Daud Ali Omar was killed along with his wife after the assailants broke their way into his residence in Baidoa’s Bardaale neighborhood. The attackers also shot and killed male carpenter along a nearby street while fleeing, sources confirmed.
At least three clerics aligned with the Paramilitary group of Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamea have been killed by suspected Al Shabaab gunmen in Baidoa for the last two months alone. International press watchdogs have ranked Somalia one of the worst places to be a journalist, with larger number being targeted, largely in volatile Mogadishu in 2014. | |
