| US envoy: fighter jets for Baghdad, RPGs for Erbil |

| [Rudaw] One thousand rocket-propelled grenades [RPG] have been sent to Erbil and 36 F-16 warplanes will be shipped to Baghdad, US Ambassador Stuart Jones said at a presser held in Baghdad on Thursday. "The US congress has allocated more than $1.6 billion to arm nine Iraqi Army divisions and in upcoming months the US will hand over the weapons to Iraq. At the same time, 1,000 RPGs have been sent to Erbil," Jones said. The US envoy also spoke on the alleged links between Shiite militias, known as Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units), and the Iranian government. "Hashd al-Shaabi forces should be under the control of the Iraqi forces command," he said. |
