Pressure grows on Marines to consider lowering combat standards for women
2015-04-21
h/t Instapundit
Two years ago, Army Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, the nation's top military officer, laid down an edict on the Obama administration's plan to open direct land combat jobs to women: If women cannot meet a standard, senior commanders better have a good reason why it should not be lowered.

Today, the "Dempsey rule" appears to have its first test case.

The Marine Corps just finished research to see if female officers could successfully complete its rigorous Infantry Officer Course.
I don't grok

#11  Quantity has a quality all of its own; so, if the lady marines would agree to be paid at a rate proportional to their physical performance, then we could afford enough more of them to compensate for their lack of ability, and our military effectiveness would be unchanged.

#10  Looks like its too late for the US Army, or at least Army ROTC ...

* FREEREPUBLIC, LUCIANNE > ARMY ROTC PROGRAM ALLEGEDLY PRESSURED CADETS TO WALK IN HIGH HEELS FOR ASU EVENT.

D *** NG IT, nothing to do now save wait for the US Navy's all-Femme or mostly-Femme SSN to attack Three Gorges in future time.

#8  I was privileged to observe the progress of what was called at the time [2012-2012 timeframe] 'U.S. Army Female Engagement Teams.' Interesting program, out in the morning - back at the FOB by nightfall. Special undergarments for MRAP riding, no 'cat hole' or field defecation as I recall. I wonder if Harmony Church, Duke Field, or the Ranger Camp at Deloganah will offer special undergarments, and bus everyone back to post for a shower, hots and a cot ?

#7  Not only will this degrade the military effectivness by its very nature, but once enough women are killed in combat the likelyhood of going to combat will be reduced.

They couldn't destroy the military with the draft (Rangel you snot) because they'd lose all the young voters so they are trying a new route.

I have no problem with women in combat but think they should pass the same standards and should probably have their tubes tied during their enlistement to prevent the inevitable can't deplay because...

#5   No worries, mate! There's a weeding process on the battlefield!

Problem is, it's not just the substandard that die.

#4  Lower standards, more of our people get killed.

But that doesn't matter to the PC police as long as women can pass the course. Never mind it gets them killed in the long run.

#2  I have no problem with this as long as our adversaries do likewise.

Good luck with that, Gen. Dempsey.
