| 15 militants killed in Tirah clash: ISPR |

| [DAWN] At least 15 suspected bully boyz were killed and four soldiers injured in a clash in Khyber tribal region's Tirah valley on Saturday. According to a statement issued by the ISPR, the military's public relations wing, about 35 gunnies attacked an army post in Mastak area in the morning. Troops deployed at the post surrounded the attackers. "In an intense gunbattle, 15 bad boyz were potted" and the attack was repulsed, the ISPR said. It said the attackers left the bodies of 10 of their companions which the army took into its custody, along with their weapons. The bodies were brought to the Levies centre at Shah Kas in Jamrud. The four injured soldiers were taken to the Combined Military Hospital in Beautiful Downtown Peshawar ...capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (formerly known as the North-West Frontier Province), administrative and economic hub for the Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. Peshawar is situated near the eastern end of the Khyber Pass, convenient to the Pak-Afghan border. Peshawar has evolved into one of Pakistan's most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities, which means lots of gunfire. . It was the first ground battle in the area after last week's intensive bombing of suspected sanctuaries of the banned Lashkar-e- Islam and Taliban in Kukikhel ...a tribe of primitives inhabiting Khyber Agency. They are a branch of the Afridi tribe. Traditionally they have been migratory, tromping between Jamrud and the Rajgal valley with the seasons. The tribe has had mustache-cursing relationships with several other tribes, including the Zakkakhel and Kambarkhel, and with the Mullagori. They make welcome most anyone with a turban and automatic weapons, but every once in awhile they get together a tribal lashkar to mollify the government... , Sipah, Akkakhel and Kamar Khel localities by military planes and helicopters. Security officials said the indigenous Burraq drones were also used for the first time in precision air strikes against bad boy hideouts in Tirah after their exhibition during the March 23 military parade in Islamabad. The claims made by both the military and bully boyz could not be independently verified. A security post was set up after the fresh clash in Mastak, which was earlier deemed to be an LI stronghold. |
