[RFE/RL] On March 28, the Russian Federal Space Agency, Roscosmos, announced that it would work with NASA to construct a new orbital space station to replace the International Space Station.Roscosmos chief Igor Komarov said that "this will be an open project, which not only the current ISS participants can take part in. It will be open to all who would like to participate."
NASA and Roscosmos recently agreed to extend the operation of the ISS until 2024. Earlier, Russia had said it would pull out of the ISS project in 2020.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, who oversees the Russian space program, later posted on Twitter, "The Russian government will study the results of talks between Roscosmos and NASA. The decision will be taken later."
