[IRISHTIMES] United Nations ...an organization originally established to war on dictatorships which was promptly infiltrated by dictatorships and is now held in thrall to dictatorships... human rights ...which are usually open to widely divergent definitions... Sherlocks have levelled accusations of genocide and war crimes at Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allaharound with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not reallyMoslems.... (IS), citing evidence that the Lion of Islam group's fighters had sought to wipe out the Yazidi minority in Iraq. Picked right up on that one, didn't they? The Sherlocks reported that the pattern of attacks against the Yazidis, a religious minority living mostly in northern Iraq, pointed to the intention of IS "to destroy the Yazidi as a group". Although the report states cautiously that the holy warriors "may have committed" genocide, one of the most serious international crimes, Hanny Megally, a senior UN rights official, told news hounds in Geneva that "all the information points in that direction". |
