Turkey will help Iraq retake Mosul, Prime Minister Davutoglu vows
2015-03-05
[Hurriyet Daily News] The Sick Man of Europe Turkey
...the only place on the face of the earth that misses the Ottoman Empire....
is willing to support a possible operation to reclaim djinn-infested Mosul
... the home of a particularly ferocious and hairy djinn...
from the Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), but it will avoid any direct combat unless it is attacked on its own soil, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said on route to the United States on March 4.

"We would support Mosul, but we will not engage in direct combat. We will only respond if there is a direct attack on Turkey. We possess both the potential and the might for that," Davutoglu told news hounds, adding that Turkey would "back groups supported by the people" and considered Atheel al-Nujaif to be the legitimate elected governor of Mosul.

Commenting on preparations to take Iraq's second largest city back from ISIL, mainly conducted by the Iraqi army, Davutoglu outlined Turkey's "four basic policies on Iraq," with the central government in its southern neighbor being Ankara's number one priority "for the sake of Iraq's sustainability."

The second policy is the Kurdish region in northern Iraq, he said, again highlighting that the Turkish army was continuing to support the Peshmerga, the fighters of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

The third policy is the security of Turkmens in the country, while the fourth is working to avert further Sunni-Shiite festivities in Mosul, Davutoglu stated.

Throughout all four policies, Turkey prioritizes the sustainability of areas close to its borders, he said.

"For example, if [KRG capital] Arbil fell [to ISIL] this would be problem for us in terms of national security. Places close to the border must not be under the threat of terror," he said.

#3  Darth Vlad = Russia must be really worried about the general or specific Islamic threat to Russia iff he has to send the Russian Air Force across Northern Europe to pretend to threaten Ireland.

* BIGNEWSNETWORK > IRELAND AIRLINE TRAFFIC [Airspace] DISRUPTED BY INTRUSION OF RUSSIAN [military] AIRPLANES.

* IIRC TOPIX > PUTIN/RUSSIA WORRIES ABOUT ISIS LINKS TO NORTH CAUCASUS MILITANTS.

AND

* GROONG > [Iraqir.AM] RUSSIA IS [seriously] CONSIDERING GEORGIAN INVASION.

RussFed's Crimea-style "liberation" of Abkhazia + South Ossettia???

* DARTH VLAD/VLADVEDEV = D *** NG IT, CLEARLY EX-SOVIET SSR GEORGIA MUST BE SAVED FROM THE THREAT FROM ATHENS + GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH!

#2  Turkey directly fighting ISIL (ISIS, Daesh, Orcs, etc.)? Really?

More likely there to filter any captured combatants or weaponry as to not allow discovery of their 'origin'.

Kind of like the 'NO WMD' meme our government offered in Iraq so as to not point fingers at the involvement therein of Gaul, Allemagne and the Varangians.
