The source, who requested anonymity, added, "ISIS told the people of Mosul that it would whip anyone 30 times if they were caught using cellphones."

A local source in Nineveh province reported on November 23, 2014 that ISIS grabbed credit for cutting cellphone networks in Mosul, pointing out that the group confirmed it would not allow the usage of cellphones in the city again.

On July 30, 2014, another local source in Nineveh stated that the terrorist organization had imposed the Afghan uniforms on the people of Mosul, and withdrew all clothes from the stores in the city.
