Obama: According to Iran's Supreme Leader, "It Would Be Contrary To Their Faith To Obtain A Nuclear Weapon"
2015-02-11
[REALCLEARPOLITICS] PRESIDENT OBAMA: The issues now are sufficiently narrowed and sufficiently clarified where we're at a point where they need to make a decision. We are presenting to them in a unified fashion, the P5+1 supported by a coalition of countries around the world are presenting to them a deal that allows them to have peaceful nuclear power but gives us the absolute assurance that is verifiable that they are not pursuing a nuclear weapon.

And if in fact what they claim is true, which is they have no aspiration to get a nuclear weapon, that in fact, according to their Supreme Leader, it would be contrary to their faith to obtain a nuclear weapon, if that is true, there should be the possibility of getting a deal. They should be able to get to yes. But we don't know if that's going to happen.

#11  Narcissist Obama - of COURSE he knows best what other people want and will do.

We have a mentally ill person as President.

#10  Obama: According to Iran's Supreme Leader, "It Would Be Contrary To Their Faith To Obtain A Nuclear Weapon" and not use it?

#7  Isn't it also "against their religion" to murder innocent people?

#6  Um... if there's one brand of Islam that was born to learn to love The Bomb, it's Shia. End of days, 12th Imam leaps out of a well, the Mahadi, Jesus, and Big Move all worship rocks together in the desert, and the Earth dies screaming like a Tom Waits song.

Geez. Doesn't the President know anything about his own religion?

#3  no its not against their faith to persecute the people of the book

there are a number of references to people of the book in the koran

some, such as 3:199 show the people of the book in a positive way, others such as 3:110 show the people of the book in a negative way

because of these verses, Sharia allows Jews and Christians (and maybe others) to live in Islamic lands as protected people (dhimmi) if they (the Jews and Christians)pay the dhimmi tax and act as if they were inferior - any violations of these and the Jews and Christians may be killed, made into slaves, etc.

#2  It's also against their faith to persecute "people of the book" (i.e. Jews and Christians), but that doesn't seem to have stopped them.

#1  Pakistan has nuclear weapons, and I have never heard any Muslim religious leaders say that it is contrary to their faith.
