[Mindanao Examiner] Troops attacked two Abu Sayyaf camps on Wednesday, killing at least six militants in Basilan province in the Muslim autonomous region of the southern Philippines. Officials said the two camps were overtaken by soldiers and that explosives had been recovered from the site. Two of the slain militants were identified as Yusop Sandatan and Usop Balaman. At least six militants were injured in the clashes in Sumisip town, a known stronghold of the Abu Sayyaf, and the hometown of Mujiv Hataman, the regional governor. Marine Captain Maria Rowena Muyuela said troops first clashed with the group of Abu Sayyaf sub-leaders Juhaibel Alamsirul, Radzmil Janatul and Pasil Bayali. |
