| 65% of MILF firearms to be decommissioned this year |

| [Business World] More than half of the firearms of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) are scheduled to be decommissioned this year as the rebel group lays down its arms during a four-phase process expected to be completed next year. Professor Miriam C. Ferrer, the chief negotiator for the Philippine government peace panel, said that 65% of guns belonging to the MILF will be decommissioned this year. The decommissioning process is set to be completed by 2016, the same year of planned Bangsamoro elections. MILF troop strength has been estimated to be around 10,000 to 15,000 men. |
