Palestinian official dies after beaten by Israeli troops
2014-12-11 | ||||
A senior Palestinian official died on Wednesday after being struck in a confrontation with Israeli forces during a protest march in the West Bank. The Palestinian leadership vowed A former PA deputy minister, Abu Ein, 55, was the most senior Palestinian official to die in a confrontation with Israeli forces in recent years. His death was "a barbaric act that cannot be tolerated or accepted," Abbas said, declaring three days of mourning.
The group was confronted by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank village of Turmusayya. Teargas was fired, three soldiers grabbed Abu Ein and he was struck in the chest.
Ahmed Bitawi, the director of the Ramallah hospital, said Abu Ein "was martyred after being beaten in the chest". Abbas said his death would not go unanswered.
The Israeli army, or IDF, said it was "reviewing the circumstances" of the incident and had proposed a joint investigation with the Palestinians. A statement said Israeli forces had been confronted with "approximately 200 rioters" during the incident. "Forces halted the progress of the rioters... using riot dispersal means," the statement said. "The IDF is reviewing the circumstances of the participation of Ziad Abu Ein, and his later death."
Palestinian-led autopsy of Ziad Abu Ein congruent with Israeli claims, says he died from stress-induced heart attack, but say attack, lack of medical care at fault; Israeli doctor: His heart was already functioning at less than 80%..

#10 CJ needs to write an honest history of WTF happened. If he ever did he'd have to ban himself. |

#8 LGF had something in common with Andrew Sullivan. I found them both in the same way that I found the 'burg. Someone, right after 9/11, pointed me to Insty. I hit every site on Insty's blog roll and stuck with Sullivan and LGF, and some others, till they both flipped out and returned to their lefty roots. Sullivan on the subject of Gay Marriage and LGF, as mentioned, on creationists. Over time I reduced my regular reading to Rantburg, Insty, Tim Blair and Roger Simon with the occasional EU Referendum. The only one I really miss is the late lamented Nation of Riflemen. Instapundit and Rantburg are National Treasures that should be fabled in song and story. |

#4 LGF - what I remember was Charles used to be a lefty, then someone in Muslim garb pointed a pretend gun on him after a bike ride, then 9/11 happened a few months later and he turned righty for a few years, until be started screaming about Creationists (in Texas) for a few months, then it was other lefty causes ju jour. That's when I bailed. A year or so after that, he deleted my LGF account having seen my name pop up on Tim Blair's or Patterico's site supporting them. I think that about covers it... |
