| #3 Stalin did the same thing before WWII to ensure he had a compliant and politically compatible general officer corps. Lucky for Mother Russia, he missed a few really fine officers. This is on the verge of a scandal. Our military is becoming a playground for social engineers and politically correct. |

| #2 Some sports teams pay big bucks to keep players sitting on the bench rather than allowing them to play on the other 'team'. They take a strategic view of what happens when damn good players are on the field against you. |
