This is truly hurting us in the long run. Six years without a single prisoner that we can interrogate indefinitely. And as you know, in many of these cases, it takes months to get the information you want.” Krauthammer nails it. The goal is to release the 'political prisoners' not further detain them or add to their numbers. The other unspoken reality is, U.S. soldiers, Marines, and the DoD have no current authority [legal or otherwise] for 'summary execution' of terrorists, so there would eventually be captured enemy personnel to deal with if ground troops were employed in great numbers. |
