Can Obama Reboot?
2014-11-03
[Politico] "A list of people most likely to replace the departed isn’t easy to draw up, not with the lure of a Clinton campaign, big cash in the private sector, the perception of insularity and resistance to outsiders and the run-of-the-mill reality that winding down a presidency is a thankless, enervating business."
Political animals are not "go down with the ship"-types.

#14  What CS said.

With emphasis on "nominally."

#13  Um, how would "President Biden" be an improvement?

He at least thinks he is nominally American. Can't say that for the rest of the Obama cabal.

#11  Nixonian time line:
Agnew resigned 10/10/73
Nixon nominated Ford for VP 10/12/73
Senate confirmed Ford 92-3 11/27/73
House confirmed Ford 387-35 12/6/73
Ford sworn in as VP 12/6/73
Nixon resigned 8/9/74
Ford sworn in as President 8/9/74
Ford nominated Rockefeller for VP 8/20/74
Ford pardoned Nixon 9/8/74
Rockefeller sworn in as VP 12/19/74

#9  The world would have been a different place if Earl Butz had been properly prepared.

#8  VP Agnew resigned. Ford appointed to replace him. Then Nixon resigned & Ford became President. Ford then appointed Rockefeller as VP. Or at least that's how I remember it.

#6  Biden would have to pick Warren as Veep first. Otherwise the rules of succession still apply.

#5  So Biden resigns (due to health reasons), & is replaced by Sen. Warren, confirmed by lame-duck Senate, and then Obama resigns. Then Warren can run as the incumbent in '16 and for re-election, for a total of 10 years as socialist dictator.

#4  Regarding Biden. Ford wasn't the Vice President and yet he was quickly maneuvered into the Presidency after Nixon's resignation.

#3  Optimistic. There's too much golf left in him, and too much vacationing and shopping for her.

#2  Um, how would "President Biden" be an improvement?

#1  Do I smell a resignation, or am I just being overly optimistic ?
