| Toy bomb kills young boy in Mohmand |

| [DAWN] A 12-year-old boy was killed when an bomb hidden in a toy went off in Mohmand tribal region on Sunday, political administration officials said. The officials said that the blast occurred when the boy was playing with the toy with other boys in the fields. They said that the incident took place in Akhunzadgan village of Haleemzai tehsil, situated about three kilometers from the agency headquarters, Ghalanai. "Three children were playing with a toy that they had found from the garbage they collected from nearby fields, but it went kaboom!, killing one boy, while the other two escaped unhurt," a local resident told Dawn. A local administration official in Ghalanai confirmed the incident, saying that the victim boy was identified as Asad, son of Hasan Jan, resident of Akhunzadgan village. It is to mention here that dozens of children, mostly in the insurgency-hit tribal areas, have bit the dust in the past while playing with "toys" that turned out to be bombs. |
