| BIFF militants kill former mayor's brother |

| Maximo Salamanca was gunned down by suspected BIFF militants after the group attacked a village amid a clash with government troops. Salamanca is the brother of Emilio Salamanca, a former mayor of President Quirino town, where the shooting took place. Sultan Kudarat Provincial Police Office director Rex Dela Rosa said said after Salamanca hid for safety in his house, he went out to check his farm. On the way, he encountered armed men who immediately shot him several times. It was earlier reported that the Islamic militants attacked the people of Bagumbayan village in President Quirino town. During the attack, two responding village officials were hurt. |
