IS Takes Heavy Losses In Battle For Kobani
2014-10-20
[IsraelTimes] The Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear the pols talk they're not really Moslems....
group was taking heavy losses in the Syrian battleground of Kobani Sunday as Iraqi forces fought the jihadists buoyed by US backing for top government security appointments.

US Secretary of State John F. I was in Vietnam, you know Kerry

#9  John Kerry does another of his famous flip flops. This one a good flip flop. A week ago he said Kobane was insignificant in the overall strategy to defeat ISIS. He is now on with board the aerial resupply of Kobani's Kurdish YPG.

Secretary of State John Kerry appeared to switch his position on the Syrian town of Kobani on Monday, declaring it "irresponsible" to not help the Kurds there fighting the Islamic State group (also known as ISIS or ISIL), according to the Associated Press.

"We have undertaken a coalition effort to degrade and destroy ISIL, and ISIL is presenting itself in major numbers in this place called Kobani," Kerry said during a trip to Indonesia. "It would be irresponsible of us, as well [as] morally very difficult, to turn your back on a community fighting ISIL as hard as it is at this particular moment."

#3  Exactly. The point of combined arms is to cause the enemy to commit his force and then destroy it asymmetrically. We need more of these set piece battles to better understand ISIS' logistics network. Each node exposed is vulnerable in the future. Each battle reveals another vulnerability. Fight ISIS, yes fight.

#2  "The bodies of at least 70 IS fighters had been brought into the mortuary ..."

Pile the bodies, douse 'em with gasoline and burn them to ashes.

Since all the moderate muslims and western governments say ISIS is not Islamic, we shouldn't hear a peep about flaming the corpses. Right?
