| Indian army kills two fighters in Kashmir |

| [Iran Press TV] Indian troops have killed two pro-independence fighters in a shootout near the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border that divides Kashmire between Pakistain and India. An Indian army official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said on Thursday that the two men were fatally shot in the Furkian Gali area of Kupwara district, situated about 175 kilometers (108 miles) northwest of Kashmire's main city of Srinagar, on Wednesday evening. The official added that two AK-47 assault rifles were recovered near the slain fighters. Also on Wednesday, Indian and Pak border guards fired on each other's positions in Poonch district close to the LoC. Unnamed defense sources said Indian troops responded to firing from Pak forces and targeted their military posts. There were no reports on possible casualties or damage. |
