Sudanese pro-Ansar mercenaries arrive in Kufra?
2014-08-21
[Libya Herald] While Sudanese have been leaving Libya via Kufra, there are widespread reports today in the south-eastern town that hundreds of Sudanese mercenaries arrived by plane at the airport en route to Benghazi. They are said to be going to fight alongside Ansar al-Sharia
...a Salafist militia which claims it is not part of al-Qaeda, even though it works about the same and for the same ends. There are groups of the same name in Libyaand Yemen, with the Libyan versions currently most active. Tunisia's Shabaab al-Tawhid started out an Ansar al-Sharia and changed its name in early 2014. It still uses the old name now and then, probably because the stationery's not all used up and the web site hasn't expired yet...
against Operation Dawn forces.

It may be that this is just another rumour, however.

No-one in Kufra to whom the Libya Herald spoke said they had actually seen the alleged mercenaries. Nonetheless, in the present situation, nothing can be discounted.
