Nixon criticizes Ferguson police for releasing Michael Brown 'robbery' video
2014-08-18
[Iran Press TV] The governor of Missouri has taken a swipe at the Ferguson police for releasing to the public a video allegedly showing Michael Brown robbing a store before being killed in a police shooting.

Michael Brown was an 18-year-old unarmed African American who was shot multiple times by a police officer and killed last Saturday.

Ferguson Police Chief Tom Jackson, who has acknowledged that the shooting death of Brown was not related to the robbery, released the video on Friday.

Earlier, US justice Department had also warned police not to release the video.

Jay Nixon now said in several talk shows that he "deeply" disagreed with the decision to release the video.

"We certainly were not happy with that being released, especially in the way that it was," Nixon said. "It appeared to cast dispersions on a young man that was bumped off in the street. It made emotions raw," said Nixon while appearing on ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos.

#13  I had tossed on Officer Quintpod of the Tacticool Response Unit the other day.

In all fairness, the quaint locals are also looking and acting the part, and were very quick to riot.

#12  Ferguson, MO is lost. Time to chopper out the innocents, post the obit in the St. Louis Dispatch and pour out a 40 on a dung pile for your homies.

#11  The robbery has everything to do with the shooting. The officer might have had no idea of the robbery. But Brown did! What I mean is that Brown knew he had just robbed a store and thought that the officer either knew or would soon know. This would certainly influence Browns actions. The cop walked into a robbery suspect unknowingly and probably could not understand why this man was being so aggressive...

#10  Roger P2k. The governor and lieutenant governor have both thrown the police under the bus at every opportunity.

#9  No problems putting Zimmerman the police on trial in the press, but you're not allowed to defend yourself in the same court? BTW, it became a public record when it came into the hands of the police. We're just lucky(?) the hard drive didn't crash before it's release.

#5  It probably wouldn't have made any difference whether the video was released or not. These rioters don't seem to want to be confused with any facts. I wonder how many of the rioters are actually from Ferguson?

#4  But the video shattered their black-powa narrative.
