| #2 ...Most people don't know that although Poland wouldn't have beaten the Germans in '39, they were laying some serious hurt on them - and had the Soviets not invaded, they might well have held them off into October or November, with changes to history we can't imagine. The Russians dislike the Poles intensely, but they know the utter ferocity with which they can fight - see also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polish%E2%80%93Soviet_War wherein the Soviets had their a$$es handed to them.
