Iraqi Kurds to get Czech weapons at end of August

History repeats itself?

#7  From what I hear US doing small arms rounds, MMG TOW mortars (but not the 4.2"), commo gear. Haven't heard about US supporting anything heavier for the Kurds. French, and now the Czechs apparently are going to be the sources for heavier, if any is given. Kurds are frequently promised stuff but seldom is it actually delivered.

#5  Mortars, small arms. But the big prize will be 122mm artillery most likely. Variant of D-30 (towed) or 2S1 (SP version). They already have some of each of those (recovered from the Iraqi Army, and some seized way back during OIF-I) so they know how to operate them. Prob is not much ammo in the supply chain so they have been held to the rear as "last ditch" defense for Kurdish areas.

If they get the D-20, those are first class 155mm Howitzers (towed). Get a few batteries of those up and running with effective fire control, and ISIS will be having some very bad days.

#4  Alanc: Czechs do indeed make excellent weaponry.

#2  The first weapons obtained by the then new state of Israel were from the Czechs. Same with new Kurdish state. Use them well Kurds!

History DOES repeat itself, but not in detail...

#1  History may not repeat itself, but it sure rhymes a lot.
